About the Tea

Pu’erh is the most special tea on earth. Grown only in one place on earth in Yunnan China. Large leaf Assam tea leaves are dried & packed into bricks where various bacteria and fungi are introduced. The tea then ages in a very specific environment for years, developing a unique and one of a kind flavor nothing else in the world has.

The aging process imparts an extremely bold & full bodied flavor along with a  stricking loss of all bitter tannins.

Pu’erh is extaordinarily healthy, and desired for it’s irreplacable flavor. It is the king of tea.

History & Stories

An Accidental Discovery

Along the Tea Horse Road, compressed tea cakes were hauled by mule through humid forests and high passes. Merchants noticed that tea arriving months later tasted smoother and deeper.

What began as accidental spoilage became revelation: time itself was changing the tea.

This journey is widely regarded as the origin of pu’erh aging culture.

The Emperor's Tribute

During the Qing dynasty, Qianlong Emperor reportedly favored pu’erh after imperial feasts for its grounding, digestive qualities. He ordered select cakes sent annually to Beijing as tribute.

From caravan roads to palace halls, pu’erh became both folk medicine and royal luxury.
